Hi all, there are new posts from Judy and Kathy on the last thread.
I have a cardiologist appt tomorrow. Still trying to get a pulmonologist appt but so far that has not happened. I have not eaten bread, pasta or potatoes in a couple of months. Feeling pretty good and lost weight easier getting rid of those things but I kind of feel like I will come home tomorrow and eat a loaf of french bread, a pound of pasta and pot of potato soup....all at once. I am even dreaming about it. I dreamed I was trying to make potato soup out of cucumbers. haha I think enough is enough, time for some starchy carbs.
We have been smoky and the skies have been all gray and hazy.
Not much happens here. I hope everyone is doing good. Kathy so if everything is normal did they have an answer for what happened?

Teresa, I am waiting for the results of the CT Scan of my head. I got x-rays of the left ankle too so that's to the list. I went to buy some Tylenol and there wasn't much to choose from so I didn't buy any. There's a shortage and I'm glad I don't have a youngster that needs some as there isn't any at least at my store. I haven't ventured out to other places yet. There's smoke here. When the street lights are on and one looks up at the lamps it looks like it's snowing. Yuck! I really dislike that "s" word. Too soon to be even thinking of it! I need to get an orange shirt to wear in Victoria. On September 30 it's a holiday in BC , National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. My son has the day off and we're going to the parade and what ever else he's planning. It's not a happy holiday it's a Remembrance of all the sad things that have happened in the past to the Indigenous people. The Federal government people get September 19 off for the Queen's funeral. I have to work and I need to delete some shows so I can record the funeral. Safeway is getting rid of AirMiles and starting Scene. The new program starts on September 22. Once the new program is downloaded one can't print AirMiles sale signs. I sure hope they have their act together. I'm the person doing the downloading on Monday am. Sure hope it works! My boss is on Holidays so she won't be there to answer any questions. Exciting but also scary!
Weather here has been cooler during the evening and night and get up to the mid 70 's F during the day.
Hope your visit went well!
Hugs Kathy

my cardiologist makes me crazy. At first I thought he really cared about my health, even if he was a keto pusher. But, I lost 15 pounds since my last visit and almost 80 pounds total. My A1C is 5.6, not in the prediabetic range any more and even though it is a high normal my primary doc says its awesome and I brought it down on my own. So here is what upset me, my cardiologist wants to put me on ozempic, tell the insurance company it is for prediabetes but I would be using it for weightloss. Chance are insurance wont cover it and it is over a $1000 per injection and you take an injection once a week. That is $4000 a month. I am not doing it even if insurance did cover it. I have lost weight with no gimmicks, no fads, no pills, no surgery and no keto. I wonder if he is trying to kill me or getting kickbacks from the drug company. Why just not be proud I have done this much work and did it the healthy way? I let it get to me way too much.

It's getting cooler here. That white stuff is lurking! Watched some of Queen Elizabeth II funereal, I tried to tape it but have no idea if I succeeded. There wasn't much left to watch otherwise. I thought I was scheduled to work today. I went in couldn't punch in and couldn't. Checked the schedule and found that I work Wednesday through to Tuesday. Before I left, I looked at some of the sorting and did afew things that were missed by the others. Left a note and went home. Have already had a nap!. Then am off! My plane takes off next Wednesday afternoon and I come back the following Saturday. Hope to have fun, fun and more fun! Eat, drink and be merry. I am getting my hair trimmed tomorrow then going to the Doctor for my results. I need to cover the whites but no use if I'm getting my hair trimmed. Need to book a tire appointment for when I get back. Change the date on my Theater tickets. Haven't really done anything, am working on clearing my island off, a never ending journey. Had better get some of these things off my list or I'll loose. I have been sneezing since yesterday. Today I have sneezed more then 10 times and it can't be allergies as I took a Reactine and didn't help. Nose is running too! Hope everyone is healthy and wise.

I've misplaced my cel phone. It's not in the office at work, not in my car (I've looked under the seat, taken everything out of the back seat, looked under the seats from the front and back, looked in the freezer where my groceries went and in the fridge, in the bathroom, on my bed, dinning room table in the garbage. When I phone it, it just keeps ringing and then goes to voice mail. Need to figure out how to set my alarm clock so I can go to bed. 3 am comes way too early tomorrow!
Hope everyone is having a better day than me!
Hugs Kathy

Sorry to be MIA. It has been wedding chaos until this Wednesday when everyone finally went home. The wedding was very nice, and I will send some of the photos I've been promising soon. I just wanted to check in today and let you know I'm still among the living. I promise a longer post today or tomorrow. Kathy, I hope you get answers from your doctor and I also hope you find your phone or get a new one. Finally, I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip.
Teresa, it's scary your cardiologist wants you to do something different with your eating program when you are doing so well. Go with your regular doctor who seems to actually understand weight loss programs. And, congratulations on your loss. You are doing and have done so well!!!
So for now, take care everyone. Judy

My granddaughter Bridget got married this last weekend, and the families descended. All of Dale's family came from Wisconsin, and Kylee and Logan came from Tucson. Eli and his mom, Sarah, came from Richland. We had hoped that Drew would come too, (They are Troy's sons) but he didn't make it. Still, six of my seven grandchildren were there and it's been a long time since they have been together. It was wonderful to have our out-of-town family here. The wedding was very nice, if not a little unusual, at least the location was. The venue was a horse arena. Bryn said it was like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but they did a nice job. The venue was the groom, Jacob's choice. I'll see if I can add a photo of the bride and groom to this email. One look at Jacob will give you a good idea of why he chose that venue. The morning after the wedding my daughter Bryn hosted a brunch at her friend Shannon's B n' B. It was very well done. We shared a table with Sarah and Eli so Sarah caught us up on where Drew is and what he is doing. (I sent Teresa a photo.)
My writing class begins this coming Friday. So I have been getting my class handouts ready. I also am doing a cemetery tour of Crystal Lake Cemetery on October 1st. I haven't done one of those before so I'm gathering my materials to work on my script this weekend and next week. I need to go out to the cemetery and plan my route. I am also taking my critique writing class, but I'm not sure how much I will have critiqued because there are so many other things on my list.
One of those things is organizing the World War II letters of my parents to have digitized. It is quite an impressive archive because there are letters from both my mom and dad. I try hard not to read much because I could get sucked in so easily. It is interesting to see the references to me when I was 4, 5, and 6 years old. I have sent off one batch, but I have many more batches to go.
I am still doing WW, and going once a month to weigh in and stay for the meeting. I made my goal early in Covid times, and I have been able to maintain it except twice and then it was less than a pound over. This seems to be a good weight for me. I attend Fitness Over Fifty five mornings a week, go to Tai Chi once a week, and walk up and down the hill on our driveway for 15 minutes every day. I hoped it would help my balance, but I don't think it helps much. However, it has certainly helped my stamina.
This is my youngest grandchild's senior year (Toby). He is playing football so I have been going to the Friday night home games. He is a good player, but it's a young team, and they get right up near the goal, and then they can't push it over. This last Friday they did better than they had in the first two games, but still lost. I'm hoping tonight will be a win.
So my grandchild rundown is Eli (Troy's son) is living in Richland, WA and he works as a mechanic, his brother Drew right now is in Moscow, ID, and has a couple of part-time jobs. He is trying to get his affairs in order so he can move somewhere in Montana. He got engaged at Christmas to a young woman he's been with for a couple of years. Toby, Bryn's son, is the senior. In addition to going to school, he has a part-time job. Izaak, another of Bryn's, graduated a couple of years ago. He is working for a fence company. He is living with his girlfriend in Corvallis. Garrett, Bryn's oldest, is working in construction in Wisconsin and lives near Dale's (his dad's) family with his girlfriend. Logan, Kylee's son, made AF Staff Sergeant and is stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson. He is an aircraft mechanic working on the A10s.
Jim and I got the new Covid shot for all the Omicron stuff. Fortunately, neither of us had any reaction except a slightly sore arm. The most difficult part was waiting in a car line for four hours. It's been so long since I wrote, I may have told you this already. We will get our flu shots soon, and then hope for the best all the way around.
Oops, almost forgot, Ginny what's the status on the house you are buy? Hope the sale is complete.
I'll close now, hope you have a good weekend. Judy

Teresa, I've been thinking about your cardiologist's focus on "dieting". You know, I have not "dieted" for years. I call what I do "my eating program." I ALWAYS failed at "dieting", but I am much more successful on "my eating program." It's too bad that this doctor believes a pill will solve the problem, when what you have been doing has been so successful.
Losing up to 2lbs. a week is plenty. What they say in WW is true that we didn't put on this weight quickly, we put it on bit by bit, and I believe that taking it off that way makes it more likely we will maintain. Using a slower method we relearn how to eat. (Even when we fall of the wagon occasionally, it's easier, I think, to get back on.) I imagine I am talking to the choir, but I am disgusted that this doctor would encourage you to use medication when what you are doing is successful.
Listen to your PC, she definitely has the right attitude.
Take care, Judy

Judy, the thing with the ozempic is it is actually to treat diabetes and to bring down the A1C. Since I am not diabetic there is a good chance it would give me really low blood sugar which would open up a whole other bunch of issues. I told him I feel better than I have in 20 years and I have now lost a total of 80 pounds. I still need to lose another 45 or so but that is a far cry from needing to lose over 100 pounds that I started out needing to lose. I really think he must get some sort of a kick back but the thing is he wasnt watching out for my long term health. I want to try to get back into my original cardiologist that I had in the hospital. I loved him but he went on a sabatical and they put me with this crazy keto pill pusher.
My friend who gave me chibs, her boyfriend is my old boss at Rays. They are splitting up and she is moving back to Grants pass, so tomorrow we are all having a good bye dinner, friendliest split up ever, for all of us to get together. Anyway I have been asked to make my jalapeno poppers. There will be 5 people so I am going to make 24 poppers. I feel like that is going to take me forever.
I have an appointment tuesday with the new pulmonologist, I sure I hope I like this one and he addresses my ph. The last one just wanted to convince me to have weightloss surgery. I am so thankful I never did that. I know several people who have done it, a few take it serious and do the work so the surgery is a helpful tool and one gal who had the surgery a little over a month ago, thinks its a magical pill and has not changed how she does anything and she has actually gained weight but still has the miserable affects from the bypass. I have tried to share some of the things I have been doing but she is the smartest person in the room and doesnt want to hear it.
Tonight I made chicken lasagna zucchini boats, I used fat free mozzarella, low fat cream cheese, low fat cottage cheese and make my own sauce from tomatoes that I had. It was so good and it was low fat and low carb. I really enjoy tomato sauce when I actually cook down my own tomatoes instead of using canned tomatoes.
Judy glad your survived wedding week.

Looks yummie!
When I get back I really need to start cooking and eating properly! I have gained the 5 lbs that I had misplaced. It found it's way back so hopefully it will disappear.
Telus, my provider has a loyalty department . They don't work weekends so will have to wait til Monday to find out what they can do for me. I have been with them since 1993. That I hope means something. My sister tried an amp and it said my phone was downtown. Which I'm not so I'm assuming that it's been stolen. I am working 7 days straight to go on holidays. That way I will have a small paycheck when I get back. I will be at my sister's the first week of October. Hopefully, I can copy this link to my email so I can get on the thread while gone. I'm not planning on taking my lap top. The plan is to get my tablet up and working and use that.
Got to go, the timer is telling me it's time to go to work Hugs Kathy
