Hi we have a litte break from the heat but still some smoke.
My fridge is stinking, I looked and looked for what it could be, threw out a bunch of stuff and still stinks. Last night I dreamed it was a package of hot dogs way in the back, I woke up thinking I had solved the problem. Today I looked, no hot dogs. I took everything out, scrubbed it down with vinegar, threw out more stuff. NOw I dont know if it still smells or if I just have the smell in my nose. This fridge is not even 2 years old yet. Last night I was almost panicky from looking and reached under to see if there was a drip pan, I was telling Brody that fridges used to have drip pans that you would have to occasionally dump and wash. hahaha he behaved like I was hallucinating. I pretty much threw everything out and now I have to go grocery shopping again.[
Chibs has an appointment sunday at petco for a nail trim and buff, his nails grow so long so fast. I couldnt just schedule a trim, I had to schedule a bath and stuff too. He has never been in a store before, Lord I hope he behaves. Right now he is laying on the back of my couch, like a cat, looking out the window and growling at the neighbors.
Judy I hope you have fun on your trip/font]

It's cool here. 18 C = 65 F There is some wind
I turned the furnace on last night. I was so cold. Could not get warm.
Have been looking for a new vehicle. Want a small SUV. Don't want to have to mortgage my life but don't want to buy an old one. So am looking at 2019. Test drove a Qashqai. Really liked it. I think it had everything on my wish list and more that I didn't even know was available. Also has a price.
I sat in a Mazda that is built on a Mazda 2 frame and decided it was too small in the interior. The dealer that I went to didn't have anything else. So back to the internet and some more surfing.
Got a call from the Surgeon's office on Thursday. I am going to have my Gallbladder out on August 27. Am hoping to have 5 - 6 weeks off. Hopefully I have short term disability. If not then I will go through unemployment for sick leave. I just want to have some downtime and get better. My cousin will take me to the hospital and then she wants me to stay at her place for a couple of days.
Didn't get to see Miles as he was sick and then their holidays were up. Not too happy. He's almost 36 inches talk and a very active little boy!
Had better get back to surfing!

Kathy, if I am ever able to buy a newer car, I too want a smaller suv. I want either the Nissan Rogue or the Kia Sportage.
I am glad you are finally getting that gall bladder out. Planning for plenty of down time is an excellent idea.
Speaking of cars, our first court date is sept 14th in klamath falls for my moms estate. I am going to be driving my own tiny car. Pray no one runs over me and no bad guys are around. I would feel better if it were a little bigger, a little newer and I wish the doors locked. I am beginning to stress over all of this. The stupid court stuff, the traveling, what all o2 supplies I have to take with me. My car.

I am looking at the the Nissan Qashqai Not this years model but probably a 2019 maybe a 2018 All depends on the mileage. My wants are: heated steering wheel and remote starter. They aren't going to give me hardly anything for my car and it doesn't have that high of mileage. just 152,532 km which is about 97,780 miles. Have my eye on one but have just run out of time with my surgery tomorrow and all the stuff that I need to get done. Did get my hair trimmed and I did the coloring this evening. Washed some clothes and changed the bed so I'm sleeping on fresh sheets. I needed to shower before surgery so thought it would be nice to sleep in fresh sheets. Tidied up my place and am going to turn the dishwasher on. When I come back in a few days my place will be tidy.
I have to be at the hospital for 10:30 and my surgery is at 12:30. My cousin's husband is going to drive me and she will pick me up and take me to her house. I'm leaving my car in the garage so it's not in the way.
How far is Klamath Falls from where you live. I think I've heard the name but not sure. When do you have to do the trip? Are you going by yourself? Can you borrow an 02 for a vehicle? My Dad used to get small canisters of air that he put in a bag that he could carry around and use in the car. I'm sure they've come a long way since 1998 in the oxygen world.
Hope your smoke is gone! We had a grass fire near Canmore and the smoke was in the dangerous zone. I've never seen the smoke or tasted it.
Hugs Kathy

Kathy, are they doing your gall bladder surgery the old fashioned way? (the way I had mine done) or laparoscopic. The recovery time for each isnt even in the same book as each other. I hope you recover quickly just dont try to do too much too soon.
I have an o2 portable but I have to take a house unit for my nighttime bipap. Cant use a portable with that. I would like Brody to go with me but he wants to stay home with the birds and the dog. He will regret that I am sure.

Got back from trip Wednesday evening. It was a wonderful trip. I saw lots of beautiful scenery and I loved Glacier National Park. I'm so glad my friend, Carol and I decided to go on the rescheduled trip. We had signed up to go last year, and, of course, it was canceled.
Teresa, I'll be nosy...why do you have to go to court for your mom's estate? I know it will take some careful planning on your part for the O2, and you are good at planning so try not to stress about trip. When I think of your little car it reminds me of the book, The Little Engine that Could. As the little engine chugged up the mountain it kept repeating, "I think I can, I think I can." Once it made the top of the mountain and headed down it changed to, "I thought I could, I thought I could." Your little car had done so well over the years and always survives that bumps and bruises it has received. You should write a story about your car!
Kathy, today is the day you have surgery, and my now it has happened. Hope you heal quickly, and I echo Teresa, give yourself time to heal. So sorry you didn't get to see Miles. From your description it sounds like he will be tall.
I have spent the last two days trying to catch up. My goal was also to get back on my usual schedule, and so far I'm succeeding. On the trip we ate, and ate and ate, so naturally I gained weight. Part of getting back to my usual routine is to get rid of those extra pounds right away. The last day of the trip we ate at the Columbia River Inn, an historic hotel. I have always wanted to eat there. Lunch was very good, and we had time to walk around the inn's beautiful grounds. It sits on cliff above the Columbia River and the vistas from landscaped walkway are awesome. We even got to watch windsurfers. I always thought that looked like fun.
Time to close for now. Take care, Judy

Surgery went well. Got back to Vicky's around 7 pm. Why they can't give you the prescription before so one doesn't have to get after is beyond me. Went to bed and woke up around midnight had more drugs and didn't get up for more till 7:15. Then had a few cups of coffee and then went back to bed for an hour. Had a headache and the coffee solved that problem.
Am going on Amazon to buy a new battery and some cords for my phone. I went through 2 in the last month. So am going to have extras just encase.
I don't go back to work until Oct 8th. I talked the Doctor into agreeing to that date. Because of the stuff that I do and all the lifting that they will want me to do. Better to be safe then sorry. I have 4 Band-Aids and am taking the drugs every 4 hours not so much because I hurt so I won't hurt. Am going to do some online shopping and then it will be time for a nap.
Hugs Kathy

Kathy, so glad your surgery went well. I hope you recover quickly, and that it solves the difficulties you have been having. Retail therapy can be an excellent way to feel better.
My daughter, Bryn, took the dogs walking down in the fields below our home and came back with a bucketful of blackberries. She shared some and later brought down a blackberry muffin for me and her dad. Yummy!!!
While I was gone for a week, I guess the weather has been cooler, and that trend continued, but right now the sun is shining. The same daughter is going paddle boarding tomorrow with a friend and their sons. Izaak and Ireland have been friends since grade school. I'm sure it will be a fun outing. Bryn loves paddle boarding. I hope the weather stays nice, sunny, but not too hot.
Time to get back to my never-ending list. Take care, Judy

Teresa, I remember having the stinky drip pan problem on my last fridge…I don’t know whether my new one has one or not—I didn’t even know the new ones didn’t have them. And Twiggy (my previous small dog) also used to lay on the top of the couch back—I just thought it was because she lived with only cats and thought she was a cat too! Boo really needs a nail trim, but the last time Karen and I tried to do him, she ended up scratched. I’d take him to the vet to get it done, but can’t figure out how to get him in a carrying case. Dogs are easier when it comes to getting them to the vet. Here is hoping your traveling for your court date for the estate goes well.
Kathy it has been close too 100 here for a couple weeks. To counteract the heat I’ve got the AC on so high that I need a blanket when I’m sitting down. We are getting just the tail end of a bit of hurricane Ida so the rain we are now getting is helping to cool things down a bit. I’ve got the materials for the new deck covering half my driveway; still probably got another week or two before they are able to start on it. Be glad when it is finished. I don’t have an SUV, but I really do like my Subaru. I’ve been driving it for 4 years now, with 1 more year to pay on it. At the time when I bought it, they offered me zero percent interest for up to 5 years, and I snapped it up. My car is, I guess, a mid sized sedan, but it is 100 times sturdier than my friend’s Toyota. Really cushioney and comfortable. Have you considered selling your car privately? Maybe you could get more for it than they’d give you on a trade-in. So I missed your post about your gallbladder surgery, but hope you are recovering nicely from it. Hope you get the short term disability for it. I’m sure you are making lists of to do’s and to takes.
Judy, your trip to Glacier National Park sounds like a lot of fun. My dh and I went there once and really enjoyed the scenery. So different than our flat mid-west. Knowing you, I am sure you will be able to catch up on your meal plan, but good luck anyway.
Kathy, I just caught up with your last post. Glad to hear the surgery went well, and you are getting the time off that you will need to heal. Amazing to hear that you have 4 bandaids from your surgery — I guess there are a few perks from technology. Happy healing!!
Hugs to you all, Ginny

Glacier National Park is truly beautiful. I loved seeing the magnificent scenery. I had not known that Glacier is an international park and the park is actually in both the U.S. and Canada. One very fun part of the trip was taking the classic 1937 Red Bus on a tour of the park. The drivers are known as Jammers because when the buses were new they had to be double-clutched to change gears so there was a lot of grinding. Now the engines have been changed so that's not necessary anymore. A couple of years ago all the buses went to Ford and their engines were upgraded. The Red Buses are convertibles, and the fabric roof rolls back so we can actually see the tops of the very tall mountains around us. www.glaciernationalparklodges.com/red-bus-tours There's a photo on this link. If you go to this site there is also a map of the park and we took the East Side tour - blue "circle".
Last night I went to my grandson, Toby's football game. I played well, but lost. Toby carries the ball a lot, and he just plows as far as he can through obstructions (the other team's players). It was their first game of the season. Teresa, next week they play in Redmond. Toby is a junior, and one of my "littles", is definitely NOT little anymore!
I am working on getting all the Civil War letters ready to send off. I looked for the Civil War photos, but didn't find them so I decided just to go ahead and get the letters off. I'm sure as I am sorting I will find the photos and I can send them off. It is more important to get these letters digitized. It turns out to be quite a process to get them ready. Each letter needs it's own protective cover, and it took me a little while to figure out how to label them. I've got the procedure figured out now, so I hope it will go more quickly.
Kathy, I hope you are progressing well. Ginny, I hope your deck gets done quickly -- once they start. And, Teresa, take care on your trip to K. Falls. I know you are going to do just fine. I just wish you didn't have to deal with all this.
Take care, Judy

I did a lot of running away on Saturday. Went to Mazda on the southside to see if they had anything and they didn't. The sign out side said they would buy one's vehicle. They said they give me a couple hundred dollars. The dealership on the northside said $1200. A private deal I working on $1600 including my 4 winter tires on rims and the car as is. The car I dealing on is a 2019 Nissan Qashqai loaded. It's beautiful and has a smooth drive. Has what I'm looking for remote start and heated steering wheel. I'm hoping everything goes.
I'm looking for a place to stay in Victoria, BC. I'm going to drive and visit my son and girlfriend for the weekend and then stay with my sister in Nanaimo for a few days. Then hopefully take the ferry from Nanaimo and head north to Pememberton. Just waiting to hear from them. Whether I hear from them or not I'm going to take my stuff (treats) with me just encase.
I sent Teresa some pictures of my son who fell while training for a triathlon. He raced on Sept 6. He said he was the first one out of the water which I believe was the first event but by the end he said his leg was throbbing. He finished and didn't come in last.
Teresa did you find why your fridge was smelling?
Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather!
Hugs Kathy
I have been tidying up and rearranging things that I just haven't got to. Still have all the papers to file, do the paper recycling and bottles. I finally hopefully found a place that will recycle worn clothes and other textiles. Have gone through some stuff and have found lots of socks and stuff that one doesn't want to throw in the "garbage".

Kathy, sounds as if you are going to have a nice trip. I'm glad you have the time off to do it. Your son's injury looks like it really hurt.
We have a new to us car. Our van finally had more problems than we were willing to fix. Jim and I had talked about getting a new car since this was 11 1/2 years old and had 147,000 miles, so we started looking and found a 2019 Subaru Ascent with 27,000. It is more car that we need, but I really like it. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is...guess that will take awhile. It is a "basic" Ascent, but the previous owners added a few nice feature. I can't decide if it's a van or an SUV. I does have three rows of seats, and is about the same size as my van was.
The box with the Civil War letters is ready to send to be digitized. I did not find a couple of things I hoped to include, but I am most concerned with getting the letters digitized. That is most important to me because I hope to donate the originals next summer to the Ravalli County Historical Society in Hamilton, Montana, where my great grandparents had a ranch/farm named Edgemont.
Also, I have finished my monthly letters to my grandchildren...my writing class if over until the end of the month, and I am relieved to have those tasks out of the way. Tomorrow my grandson Toby starts school. He is our last K-12 student, and he is junior this year.
Time to water my flowers before it gets dark. Take care, Judy

He said his leg is swollen but not as much as on the weekend. I guess what he needs is his Mom to give him the attention that one gets when they were smaller.
I am going to get him and his girlfriend frames for their diplomas from university as Graduation gifts. I thought that if I went on line and did it maybe it wouldn't be the ones they wanted so will do it together and get the ones that they want. She went to the University in Kamloops, I believe it's distant learning and his is from UBC. They are execited.
Just trying to get the paper work done so I can complete the sale of my vehicle. I went into talk to someone at the branch and the teller said I would have to make an appointment. I asked when customer service got high tech that one couldn't just walk into the branch and ask someone questions. I ended up talking to the Branch Manager ( supposedly). He really didn't give me the answers I guess I wanted but then I really don't know what questions ones' suppose to ask. Anyways, he said I should ask for a cash price. The dealer said that doesn't happen anymore.
Am on the mend I guess. I am trying to stay away from unhealthy foods and it seems if I follow that, the scale goes down, when I don't it goes up. Logical.
I bought some Fiesta bowls from Amazon and I thought they were larger but they are nice. An orange in Color. I also bought 2 other ones but I'm not sure of the color. My dishes are off white so the orange looks good with them and when the plates and salad plates and cereal bowls go on sale I just might replace the dishes. One never knows what the fingers will do when one goes on Amazon.
I want to buy a tablet for when I go to Mexico and when I'm travelling. I will be using it as a e reader to. Just don't know which one to get. My boys are against it as they don't like tablets. So have to ask different people.
Just I am doing Retail Therapy!
Hugs Kathy

Kathy, I have an older Samsung Tablet and I really like it. It is one of the midsized ones and I have a nice case for it. But it is so old, it is obsolete now. If I ever got another one I would do samsung again.
Today was a wonderful birthday. Also, court was cancelled, that is not a good thing but I am relieved that I dont have to go now. I will eventually but not right now.
My sister in law baked and brought pies....so many pies. Lemon Meringue, key lime and pecan. Oh my gosh they are all so good.I definitely have a pie hangover.
