Kathy, belated birthday greetings. I hope you had a wonderful day and are looking forward to an equally wonderful year.
I got home late last night, so the next few days will be getting my body back on Pacific Time. It's always more difficult for me to get back to "normal" coming this direction. For some reason it's more easy changing time zones ahead.
It was a good trip. I enjoyed the conference and seeing old friends. I liked getting a feel for Boston and its history, and was glad to spend time with my good friend whom I haven't seen in several years. This morning I got on the scales anticipating the worst and found out that it wasn't as "bad" as I thought it would be. I'm back to normal eating and I should lose part of my gain before long. It may take longer to get back to being my exact my goal weight, but hopefully I will be in the WW zone.
More later. Take care, Judy

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes! I went out for dinner with my cousin and her husband. We got dressed up. We went to a restaurant that had sea food and wild meat. I had seafood lasagna as my main course. I have never order lasagna before as I usually find other things that call my name. After eating the appetizer, I only ate half then had the left overs for snack the next day. I bought a cake and we had that on Thursday with 3 different types of ice cream. Both my sons called me on my Birthday and we had quite a chat. I bought some binoculars and I have another pair and a shelving unit that I have to return today. It's been on my list of things to do all week and I had better get it back before they tell me I can't return it.
Yesterday Rogers, a cable, cel phone supplier had major problems. At work for a couple of hours we had no credit cards or debt cards transactions available. A couple of hours later the credit cards worked but debit cards didn't work. If one's cel phone was with them their was no service! My boss couldn't send emails, send text messages or receive any messages. For a long time it was across Canada. So glad that I'm not with them. The comments that are on the internet that Canada needs to improve the service across the Country so things like this don't happen. I remember back in 2012 when Shaw had a fire in a server room and the Alberta Health Services was affected and many people were in limo because of that. Air Canada was having major issues in Toronto with flights and I'm wondering if the problem is still there. Have the radio on but haven't heard anything. The Stampede started yesterday. Kevin Costner was the Parade Marshall. The weather was good after the rainstorm the night before. We get to wear jeans and western wear to work. As long as we look western we don't have to wear the uniform. I have a blue shirt which I looked for but couldn't find so another thing on my list to do this weekend. Find the shirt! My plan tomorrow is go to a Pancake Breakfast that's at the shopping center the store is located in. They usually have a few handouts and one sees people one hasn't seen in awhile.
Had better get back to tidying up. Somehow it doesn't do it by it's self!
Hugs Kathy

It's been busy since I got home. This week I had all kinds of plans, and on Monday I got sick. Don't know exactly what's going on, and I am beginning to feel better, but I've cancelled most of my activities because I just don't want to take the chance of anyone else getting sick because of me. Mostly I'm reading and sleeping which is probably not a bad thing.
I don't have much to report. Until I got a bug, I was getting back to my usual schedule. I hope by next week I'll be able to get back to my "getting back as usual" plan. I am scheduled to go to a musical on Sunday. I hope I don't have to miss it.
Kathy, it was nice to hear from you. It sounds as if you had a nice birthday.
Hope everyone is doing well...I'm working on it.
Take care, Judy

Today is the last day of the Stampede! I have no plans to go to the grounds. People have been complaining about the cost of everything and the huge lineups. The weather cooperated and it stayed hot. Today it's cooler and is a thankful relief. I went to 2 free Stampede Breakfasts. My schedule didn't allow for anymore as the Breakfasts were over by noon and I didn't get off til later, which is okay. We got to wear Jeans and Western wear to work. I keep forgetting that I have cowboy boots and I need to acustom my feet to them before I wear them. I remember too late in the season to wear them. I need to put a reminder on my phone so I can wear them next year. I think I have a long weekend coming up. I need to get it on the calendar so I can possibly make some plans ahead of schedule. I believe I have to work the Monday of the Long Weekend which is Okay by me! Hopefully I can spend sometime with my grandson this summer! Am trying to figure out how to get to Vancouver Island at the end of September. Not sure how long I'm going to stay as I could possibly go to Nanaimo and visit my sister for the next few days. It will be nice to get away from all the crap that's being handed out. Judy am sadden to hear that you are under the weather. It's no fun not feeling well. Hope you're feeling better and can get on with some summer fun! I went to Ikea yesterday to buy a bookcase to use as a shelfing unit. It comes with 5 adjustable shelves and I believe it will suit my purpose of getting the Laundry Closet organized so everything isn't one big mess. Only problem is that everyone else wants it too! Was going to buy some clear containers to put on the shelf and the size I was going to buy wasn't available either. Went there because it had A\C.
Am tidying up and hopefully will get something done today!
Hope everyone is healthy and wise!
Hugs kathy

So I've written bits and pieces about the last couple of months, but here's an overview. I can’t believe that July is over half over. Time seems to pass more quickly the older I get.
The last few months have been busy for me especially in June. The yearly conference I attend was held in a town near Boston, so June 13th I flew to Boston and made my way to Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. Our group has not met in person for the last two years, so it was lots of fun to see old friends. After the conference I spent a day and half in Boston seeing as much as I could since I’ve never been there before. The highlights of the conference and my time in Boston was visiting the Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum, the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston made of Quincy granite and seeing the U.S.S. Constitution. From there I went to Tennessee to visit my friend, Sue Moore. She lives near Knoxville and we had a great visit. I hadn’t seen her for several years. Once I got home, I had to play catch up and that took longer than I thought it would.
This summer members of my Write Your Life Story class decided to meet every two weeks and share stories. Tomorrow is our fourth get together. We have been meeting at the barn in Martin Luther King Park. Of course, it is much more relaxed than the class; it’s been fun to meet like this. We have one gentleman who is 90. He has often been the only male member of the class. His wife jokingly calls the other members of the class “his harem.” He has led a very interesting life and we enjoy his stories.
One of my goals this summer has been to finish a number of stories that I have written. One of the stories I corrected is one that I wrote nearly ten years ago after I interviewed Jim about his time at Adair AFS. I know he’s not going to write down his stories and I have discovered how valuable family stories are. After we are gone, unless we leave behind our stories, we are just names on a family tree. What really brought that home for me was reading the Civil War letters of my great grandparents. I often went with my mom as I was growing up to decorate the family graves and so I knew their names, but I didn’t really know much about them. The letters make me feel as if I knew them.
The apples on the trees in front of our house are starting to ripen and fall so we are seeing more deer wandering through and stopping to munch apples. This morning there was a doe and fawn under the trees. We have one deer that wanders through the deck on the shed side of the house and goes to the flower bed next to the shed to rest…fortunately not on the flowers. I wonder if she is one of the fawns from last year’s twins that used to rest there while their mom was out eating applies.
Hope everyone is doing well. Our thread seems to be slowing down to a creep. Hope to see some more posts.
Take care, Judy

Judy, have you been able to get pictures of the deer munching on the apples? that would be a great picture. this week our weather has been around 99 degrees. Next week we are going to be around 106 to 107 degrees. I changed my furnace filter so my system will be top shape for keeping up with the heat. Not much going on, just binge watching series. I just finished a series and cleaned my house and washed all the bedding so now I am good to go on another series. Happy I found another good one.
Ginny, where are you?

A little explanation about the deer photos. Both were taken last summer. The fawn is a twin, and the two of them used to rest next to the shed in the background. This year there is a doe that rests there and I wonder if it is one of the twins all grown up. The other photo is one of the deer in the orchard under the apple trees. If you enlarge the photo you can even see an apple on the ground. I have not yet been able to get a photo of one of the deer picking an apple off the tree.
The deer wander through our yard on a regular basis, they aren't afraid of us and often will stand and watch us as we get out of our car. But any sudden movement will send them flying. I have seen two fawns this year, but they are singletons. I haven't seen them very often.
Managed to finally get another quilt handed off to my quilter this weekend. This quilt is a wall hanging and it has been around for a while so that made it especially nice to get it to the next step.
Saturday I did go to the Art Fair at Garland's which is a nursery with my friend Sharon. I haven't been to one since the pandemic began and it was fun to see all the different crafts, plus we also enjoyed the plants and flowers. The parking lot was packed which meant there were LOTS of people. After that, we went to Monroe, small town south of Corvallis, for their Christmas in July celebration. It is quite something to see Santa standing in front of the Christmas store waving at people as the cars drove by. The event was much lower key than the art fair, but we wandered the booths and visited the Christmas store and historical museum. Sharon did find a small crock pot for their RV in the second-hand store.
Time to go water the flowers. Super hot days began today and will continue for the next few days. I've been watering in the evenings and will continue that practice.
Hope everyone is doing well. Take care, Judy
