Teresa, I am enjoying your posts about Chibs. He seems to have a fun personality.
Ginny, our birds are real pigs. I am filling my tube feeder twice a day, and usually adding a suet square at least once a day. Our suet feeder holds two squares. Then there's the hummingbirds who are busy eating too, usually a fill once a day is needed. We have birds of all sizes and even the little ones occasional eat the suet. I have been buzzed by the hummingbirds once in a while, but yesterday as I was taking down the tube feed to fill it a medium size bird dive bombed me. I think it was headed for the tube feeder and then realized i was standing there. That was a first for me. This morning when I went to exercise it is darj abd usually very quiet, the birds are not awake yet. This morning I apparently woke one up and it was not happy. It literally squawked as if flew out of the evergreen tree next to the driveway, and then continued to discuss how rude I was for waking it up.
My writing class began yesterday evening. I spent part of my break working on some of my stories so we did a critique of one of them. It is always interesting to hear the comments and realize what I left out, or have in the wrong order. The class I teach begins on the 9th. I also found out yesterday that my fall quarter class will be virtual. Kylee and I have been talking about my coming to Arizona and then taking the long-awaited trip to Santa Fe in September or October. This means we don't have to worry about planning around my class because I can do it from any place that has a good internet connection.
I hope everyone is doing well. Teresa, did Brody get an appointment yet for his first shot? I sure hope so.
Take care, Judy

I have been trying to get to bed earlier since I get up so early and I have done better this week. I try to get everything ready so in the morning I can get my gym clothes on and go. In the evening I make sure the kitchen is straightened up and all the bird feeders are filled. Morning is a VERY busy time at the feeders.
Today I actually filled one bottle of sugar water for the hummingbirds mid-morning and it was empty this evening. I have two feeders one on either side of the house and this one has been the one until about a week and a half ago that could be up for a couple of days or more without filling it. Now it seems to be much more busy than our other one which in months past appeared to be used more. I think it's the Rufous Hummingbirds that are making the difference. Today as I was walking back toward the laundry room I looked up and saw one with it's tail spread out like a fan hovering by the feeder, the sun was shining through and it was orange, so pretty. The tail and the back of the Rufous are orange.
We have had a few days now of beautiful sunny weather and it's gotten up into the mid-60s. The daffodils are still really beautiful. So far nothing else has popped, but if these warmer days keep happening it probably won't be long.
Hope all is well with everyone. Take care, Judy

It's Good Friday! Have 3 days off in a roll!
Am going to a Dog Park for a walk today. Will see how this goes. My new friend is Rouel. (Don't know if that's how his name is spelled). He's a midsize dog. With lots of wrinkles by choice.
The weather here has been windy. So will dress for wind.
Did some spring cleaning and have changed the linen on both beds. Need to make the spare bed up. I changed the bed upstairs and when I got home was too tired to make it so crawled into the spare. Need to get some receipts sent off and then get my tax stuff together and get that off too.
I am having no ill effects from my shot. I'm sore but was advised that's from probably from moving stacks of paper and putting it on shelves above my head. The worse part was getting off the counter and on to the stool. My body didn't want to bend the way it needed. The last few bundles I got a young guy to climb on the counter and put them up there. There's more to put up there and hopefully I can get someone to put it up there or be there to help on the counter when my body says "No".
Had better get moving have to be at the Dog Park at 11 am and it takes about 1/2 hour to get somewhere close to the area. Bought treats for my new friend.
Have a Great Good Friday!
Hugs Kathy

Teresa, so glad you got Brody scheduled for a shot.
I just saw the oddest site. From where I work on my computer I can look up and see the field below our house. Today, I looked up and and there was an odd shape in the field. It looked like it could be a person bent over. I got up and went closer to the window and saw that it was a big tom turkey with it's tail spread wide meandering across the field and not far behind were a whole bunch of hens. Turkeys have become more numerous in recent years and show up all over. We haven't had any around for a while, but yesterday, I had to go to an appointment, Jim had just gotten back from shopping and he said, "Watch out for the turkeys in the road." Fortunately, I only had to contend with one hen who was headed up the road to get to a good place to get off.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Take care, Judy

Judy, your Rufous Hummingbird sounds beautiful I wish we had more than just the Ruby Throated Hummingbird here. We are still hopefully awaiting our first hummingbird arrival, but we had some snowflakes a couple days ago. All the rest of the feeders are being visited frequently, though. The Pileated Woodpecker has been VERY active, after not seeing him much all winter, even though they don’t migrate. I’ve been trying to learn more of the birds calls, but not a lot of success so far. I, too, have beautiful daffodils, and they are holding up well because of the colder weather. It is really cold in the evenings—last night it got to 30, but by afternoon it has warmed up into the 50’s or 60’s, so I am pretty happy with the weather. I also have lots of the little blue flowers that naturalize: Scilla, Windflowers, Musccari, Glory in the Snow. Most of them are holding on, but the Crocus is gone, mostly. Are the turkeys you are seeing Wild ones? I had some in my back yard several years ago, you may remember. I’d never seen them before or after that.
I can hear my new robotic vacuum cleaning going up and down the hall as I type this. Karen loaned me her iPad and I am trying to learn how to use it to control Herbie (the robot vacuum). I am not at all good with this swiping stuff. It is also supposed to be practice for me to get used to a smart phone. I am almost ready to make the change but not quite. I think I just heard Herbie make his third trek down the hall. The worst part is having to get any clutter up so he doesn’t get tangled up in stuff. The second worse thing is having to clean the fur out of his wheels if it has accumulated. I never realized how much fur the boys shed. I’m going to let Herbie run about 3 times today, so he can get the layout in his memory. Then I can name the rooms and have him do just one particular one if needed, and if I had the smart phone I could start him away from home. I don’t know if I’ll ever want to, but its there if wanted.
Kathy, is Raoul the friend’s name or the dog’s name? Definitely ask for help with your chores at work—we don’t want to hear you are typing from a hospital bed. I just got to the end of your note, and I see you brought treats, so it must be a dog. Who does the dog belong to? Are you trying him out as a possible pet?
Teresa, glad to hear Brody is getting his shot. Karen has a couple stupid friends who still can’t make up their minds about getting the shot, even with both their employers offering them $100 bonus. Have a great Easter, everyone. Hugs,Ginny

Hello, Hope you all had a happy Easter. I went to an actual in church service, which was nice, and the first time I'd been in Church for a service for a year. It is absolutely beautiful here, the rest of the bulbs blooming, redbud trees starting to, and my red magnolia in pretty much full bloom. (It blooms late, so it didn't get hit by frost like my neighbor's white one.) As I drove to a friend's house this morning I was amazed at all the white crabapple trees along the way. They just lined the roads. I have a weeping pink crabapple but it is not in bloom yet. This is definitely my favorite time of year. Hugs,Ginny

Raoul is a friend's dog. He didn't like my treats I brought. He seems to only like dried duck. We walked the dog park and it was sure windy. He's my new friend's dog. He seems to like me which I think is good. If I can get a picture of him. My new friend likes to cook and do Jigsaw puzzles. Was quite surprised that I just walked past the puzzle and put quite a few pieces together. Didn't take long to get it finished. By the end of the week I will have worked 40 hours. Have been tired and my sleep patterns are out to lunch. I made a Dr's appointment because I just haven't felt good all week. My stomach hasn't been behaving either. I cancelled my Dentist appointment on Monday and went home and slept for 4 hours. Then slept through the night.
Weather is warm. Yesterday it was almost 20 C quite warm I've been told. I came home and napped on the couch. Alberta is in a new lock down. They are shutting the restaurants to indoor sitting put leaving the outdoor patios open. Libraries are closed and I believe there is many more places closed. No going dancing.
I had better get to bed or it will be time to get up.
Glad everyone had a great Easter!
Hugs Kathy

Been to the doctor. Have to have a Pylori Test. She said she thought something was going on in my stomach. I phoned the Surgeon about the Gallbladder and have to go for a consultation as it's been awhile since he's seen me. Then he will schedule the surgery. My appointments in May. Could be with the stuff the she's handing out at work it's bothering my stomach. If that's the case I think I will have to take a serious look at my life. I had Lasagna Thursday night and had left overs for brunch on Friday. Didn't both me. That was really the first thing I had really eaten all week. The weather is all over the place right now. Warm, cold a threat of snow. I just wear warm clothes.
Hugs Kathy

Guess I haven't been on enough because the thread made me log in today. I hadn't realized how long it had been.
My class started and I have 15 students, each term it seems to grow and my only concern is that everyone who wants to read gets a chance. I have four new students and I think they will stick around. Sometimes people sign up and discover this class is more about encouraging people to write than giving them instructions on how to write. I do give out a handout each week and when I have new student I send them a packet of information to explain the class and help them begin if they haven't written before. I started the packet when I realized that when a new student came to class it was a little like walking in on the second act of a play. A good portion of the students have been taking the class for a while so they have already established a rapport.
Our big news is that we got two new computers, a new laptop for me, and a new tower for our desktop. It was probably ten years old. Anyway, they are much faster than our old computers, and last night I was even able to go to my class with my video on. However, about half way through the class it started to freeze and I lost sound momentarily, so I turned off the video and I was able to stay connected. When we first got them back, poor Jim couldn't find his financial Excel spreadsheets. I knew they were there somewhere in the data, and I called the fellow who transferred the data and he gave me some clues where to look and I finally found the current spreadsheets. I know nothing about Excel so once I found it I left it up on the screen and told Jim he could deal with it from there. Once the spreadsheets were found he also found all his other stuff. He had visions of trying to recreate his spreadsheets. Since he not only does our financial stuff but also deals with the farm account, he was worried. HUGE relief, once the spreadsheets were found!
My news from Arizona is all good. Kylee has been working on the house and Duke already has job officiating baseball games. Of course, it's only part time, and he's looking for regular job. Kylee is in the process of getting her pharmacy certification changed from Oregon to Arizona. Just before she left she also found out she has a hernia and she needs to have surgery, so she's found a primary care provider and has an appt. for May. She was very realistic when they started planning and has given herself six months to find a new job. They are enjoying discovering their new home.
This weekend a friend and I are going to the Coast. My friend is 14 days past her second shot on Friday, so we are celebrating. We planned to do this before the pandemic, and now we get to. We are leaving on Saturday and will come back on Monday.
Time to get back to work. Hope everyone is doing well. Kathy, I hope your tests and medical stuff goes okay. Going to the doctor is one of my least favorite things, even though I really like my doctor.
Take care, Judy

Can't believe it's Friday! One more day of work and then a day off!
I have been working at another store. It's smaller then my store. No one has been in file for about a week before I got there. It's a mess and there was a change over (flyer change) The store is a mess and they are having computer problems and issues. One of the passwords was changed 3 times in one day. People are logging in and not logging out properly and the computer gets frustrated and shuts down.
I'm at this store because there are a lot of people sick and they are staffing from a lot of different stores to keep this store going. I walked into their fm room and could believe how dirty it felt. I took a cloth and disinfection to the door and I couldn't stand it. It really needs a good scrub! I come home drop my clothes and have a shower. Then I wash me clothes and masks.
My furnace stopped putting out heat. I changed the batteries in the thermostat and it didn't do anything. Had a service guy out and he said it was the heat exchanger (I think) The labor is about $1,300 to fix it and it isn't guaranteed for longer the 60 days . The furnace was replaced in 2009. So it will cost anywhere from about $4500 to $6200. The money that I paid for the service call will be applied to the cost of a new furnace. So I think I'm going to get another estimate and see what's the rate on new furnaces.
My friend is having depression issues. His kids' Grandma died and he said that it has brought a lot of sad memories back and he has to deal with them. I do have a picture of the dog if you would like I can send you the picture. he's cute!
I bought a new cel phone Apple 11 . I got a credit of $25 and bought a case. My phone is violet and the case is mint green. My old phone wouldn't hold the charge longer then 3.5 hours and it was getting stupid of having to charge it every time I was somewhere.
My exciting life and scary life!
Hope everyone is safe and not having such as expensive life!
Hugs Kathy
