I did a huge spring clean today. I washed and cleaned everything. So Chibs is not happy though, because we didnt get our walk in. I will have to make up for it early tomorrow morning.
Ginny, my health is so much better because of the meds and the oxygen and also because I am doing the best I can to eat more healthy and get some weight off. Pulmonary hypertension will never go away, only with a lung transplant if it progresses too far. It is a progressive disease. However, the cause of mine they believe is from the hole in my heart and also my brain doesnt tell my body to breathe sometimes. It happens when I am awake and when I am asleep.
I am wanting to get a folding treadmill, so I can fold it up because I plan to have it in the livingroom and my space is not all that big. But I need one big enough for chibs and I to both fit. We wont be able to do very much walking in the winter when it is snowy and icy. I want to be able to keep walking, for him and for me.
I have an appointment with the pulmonologist june 28th. I really want to be below 200 by that time. So right now I am fighting the urge to eat my daily late night snack of tomato sandwiches. I usually have two. I am supposed to be having lab work done, I need to fast for them. But I cant remember if it is june or july that I am supposed to do them.
We are supposed to be 96 on tuesday and 97 on wednesday. WE will have to walk at the crack of dawn or midnight.
One of my batteries to my portable concentrator died, so now I only have one and it only lasts 30 to 45 minutes so I cant be out too long. The batteries are $300. I want a double battery, that will last even longer but it is $400.
I guess I will just need to go to bed, those tomato sandwiches are screaming at me. I hope Chibs can sleep, he didnt get his energy out today.

I've seem some interesting sights in the last few days, on Monday. I went to a Memorial Day Observation at Dallas Cemetery for the Sons of Union Veterans. I had heard about how the cemetery prepared for Memorial Day, and it was pretty amazing. A whole section of the cemetery had full-size flag-lined roads and the exit also had flags. I'll send a photo to Teresa and maybe she can post it.
Today I as I was driving to a doctor appt., I was waiting at a stop light as a woman walking her standard size poodle crossed in front of me. It was then I noticed the parrot on her shoulder. Too bad I didn't get a photo. I am wondering what sights are waiting for me in the days ahead.
Teresa, I think you are doing an amazing job with your weight loss program AND your exercise. I hope all goes well with your appointments. My appt. today was just a 6 month check, and my doctor was happy with me. Even though I am at the age that I don't have to have anymore colonoscopies, I am due for one, and we decided it would be a good idea to do it (as much as I hate it!!!) because I have had polyps. The doctor who did the last one had a really excellent patient rapport. He told me it wasn't really necessary to get one anymore because that type of cancer is slow moving and I'd probably be dead before it became a problem...if it did. Makes me laugh every time I think about it. My doctor asked me if I'd like different doctor and I said, it didn't matter. Just because he's a jerk doesn't mean he's not a good doctor.
Hope you all are having a good week. It's been very warm here, but the weather and the flowers are beautiful. Take care, Judy

I sure would have liked to see the lady with the big poodle and the parrot. I wonder what her name was. I would think a lady with a big poodle and a parrot would have a fun name.

We have been having a heat wave and I believe the cooler weather is coming. Earlier in the week it was in the mid 30's C which is hot for here. We had really cold weather the long weekends and then this weather turned up. My furnace decided to put out heat which didn't help the temperature in my place was in the high 20's and it took 2 days for it to drop 5 degrees. I have the north windows open and I did have the front door open for awhile. The lady across the street is having concrete work and the noise is loud so the door is closed but my head is pounding. The condo board is having the road below me paved and they were suppose to be finished last night but I think they too are contributing to the noise pollution. Won't be so bad if one didn't have to have the windows open to bring in the cool air.
I went to the specialist about my Gallbladder. He didn't think my issues were gallbladder related. So I have to have a barine test next week Jun 14 . Nothing by mouth for 8 hours. No water or anything. My appointments for 8:55a and it's not far from where I live. They said the test could take over an hour.
I am waiting to be contacted by the Drug store where I got my first shot. When I go on line they said that they will be calling people as their time comes up. The Provincial Government has said that because of the number of people who've had their 1st shot has been so successful the 2nd shot can go ahead of schedule. Of course there are people who don't believe in it.
Haven't heard if Miles is walking yet but hopefully they will let me know when.
I have been trying to tidy up as the furnace guys are coming on Monday morning! Hopefully they don't make too much noise!
Hugs kathy

Teresa, time flies, I was thinking about how long we've been together just the other day. The thread means a lot to me.
It's raining again, and while I love the sunny weather, I'm VERY happy to see the rain. We have such a serious drought problem and I know the rain won't make a lot of difference to that, but hopefully it will add moisture to the forest so they won't burn. Waldport, a town on the coast has enacted an ordinance of no fireworks except the planned display over the Alsea Bay. The fine is $1000 if anyone is caught. Most comments I saw were positive. Everyone knows how dry it is.
Oops the news just came on, I'll be back later.
Take care, Judy

Looks as if our rain is gone for now. It was very nice to have some very rainy days. It won't make much difference in the drought but hopefully it gave our forests on the west side of the Cascades a little moisture. After the terrible fires last year everyone is very worried about the possibility of having catastrophic fires this summer and fall.
I picked up my wallhangings from my quilter and I'm really pleased. After I get the bindings on I'll take some photos and send them to Teresa.
Not a lot is happening around here. Our birds are still consuming lots of seed and suet. It is fun to see all the different ones that come to the tube feeder and the suet. The hummingbirds that are the porch with these feeders are liking the new location of their sugar water so we are back to making lots of sugar water to keep the two feeders on either end of the house full. It's on the same porch/deck, but out of all the chaos around the two feeders. I'm so glad we have birds to entertain us.
Hope all is well with everyone. Time to close and go to bed, Take care, Judy

Judy, I think I have just about given up on feeding sugar water to the hummingbirds. I very rarely see one there and we had to rig the feeder up on the trellis over the deck, with a chain and lock. So now the squirrels and/or raccoon can’t get it down, but neither can I to clean it often enough. Neither does Karen, as she has to get a ladder out to deal with it. I have seen an occasional hummer at the clematis vine (really pretty right now) on the deck, so I’m going to see if I can find a couple pots of the dark blue salvia, which they seem to like better than any other annual I’ve grown. It seems like the summer barely started, but everything is picked over. Re the news, I was a real news junkie for a while, but I can’t stand it anymore. Too much cussing (mine) during the news! And I gave cussing up for Lent, and have been trying to keep up my promise even though Lent is over, but it is just too much sometimes. Izzak’s girlfriend sounds like a very nice girl. Ohio has been freed from mask wearing, etc, that the governor put on initially, we finally reached the goal he set. And after almost 2 weeks, pretty much everything is back to normal, you will occasionally see someone wearing a mask, but most people have put their masks in a pocket. I still try to distance, and I think most people do—put I don’t go into many big stores.
Teresa, I am glad to hear your medical situation is doing better. I’m sure eating healthfully and being able to lose some weight have been helpful, regardless of the hole in your heart. I’d like to see both you and Chibbs on the treadmill. Have you found one wide enough for the both of you? Boo still rides the handlebars with me on my exercise bike, and encourages me to get on it by racing down the hall ahead of me and meowing at me as we get ready to pass the corner where the bike is. If I rode it as often as he asked me to, I’d be healthier and maybe even lose a few pounds that would stay off. I can’t find the post I wrote in answer to your question about how long we have been friends. It is amazing how long we have stuck together. I think you were pregnant with Brody, and the POD (is that what we called him?) had left you to fend for yourself. He was a real loser, but you are a real winner!
Kathy, I hope you will have been contacted for your second shot by the time you read this. You will feel so much safer once you have it. If they tell us we need a booster in the Fall, I’m ready for it. Hope you get enough rain to prevent any fires. We are supposed to be down an inch or two, although we got so much all at once. I doesn’t seem possible. Some of my annuals, the Coleus especially, just rotted away. Did you finish all the home improvement you were doing?
Happy Father's day to you all, Hugs, Ginny

We're having another heat wave. The best part about living here is that it cools off at night! Tuesday the temperature dropped around 4am when the wind came up doesn't help much when one has to get up in a couple of hours but really can't complain.
It's my day off today. The condo below me had some concrete chipped out at 8 am and the noise wasn't from the guy doing the chipping but the guy driving the big truck and trailer with the brakes. My windows are open to catch the cool air coming from the north. and now the lawn people are here. Noise is very noisy when one is looking for quiet. I got the control on the furnace to cool and hopefully that will help. My electrical bill was up $60.00 for last month and my gas bill was down $30. Did not balance. I went to the surgeon about my gallbladder and he doesn't think that's the problem. I had to have a barium test on Monday and will get the results later or early next week. Would love to have 6 weeks off! My youngest son suggested I come out in mid August. By that time they will have had their 2nd shots and will be more inclined for doing things. I haven't been to Victoria since 2007! I would drive out and see Miles too! I would be putting a few clicks on the car!
There is a Loto Max in Canada. The prize is quite a few Million Dollars. There hasn't been any big winners in over 1.5 weeks so the prize keeps growing. Last week I got a free play.
I go for my 2nd shot on Saturday. I finally got a day where I'm not working the next day so If I have any problems I have a day to sort out myself. Hopefully no problems. My son in Victoria said he had lots of problems and was sick. So was his girlfriend. They are wondering which shot to get as they have the option of which one to take for the 2nd,
I had better get off the internet and get some of my chores done or they won't get done!
Hugs Kathy

Kathy, we are being told not to mix different makers of the vaccine—I don’t know if that is true or if it would be acceptable to take another brand if nothing else was available. I personally would stick with which ever I’d taken first, it doesn’t seem right that the brands would be interchangeable. I think that each of the maker’s vaccines have their own little quirks, and everyone reacts differently to whichever vaccine they get. Just be glad you have the next day off, and use it to eat healthfully and get plenty of sleep. I can usually sleep well at night, my neighbors are generally not noisy, but occasionally someone does play music late at night, just loud enough that it is noticeable, but not loud enough to consider calling the police. I think it is my neighbor across the road, his mother lives with him, and he never does it when she is home. She is gone fairly often though, I think she goes on Missionary trips with her church. And sometimes I still do hear strange noises late at night, like some kind of road machinery in the distance. I’ve never been able to figure out what it is though. I hope you can finish with all the tests, and get some answers to the questions that are bothering you.
The weather here has been very pleasant, all Spring and Summer, so far. I was awakened by a rainstorm this morning, and the cats diving for cover in the closet. They still hate even the sound of raindrops on a window, I still wonder what kind of trauma they experienced before they were rescued by the Humane Society. They are such sweet little guys, and as loving as a dog would be. I’d really be lonely without them.
Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Father’s Day all. Hugs, Ginny

My conference started yesterday afternoon. Since everything is on EDT, I wrote on the program the PDT times so I'd be sure to show up. Zoom is working pretty well, but occasionally it dumps me. The good news is that if I miss too much I'll be able to watch what I miss on on the organization's YouTube channel. So far the presentations have been very interesting. I am glad that I opted out of presenting the paper I was supposed to do in 2020. I decided I didn't want to deal with the trying to record the talk before the conference, but most of all my internet connection is not dependable. This morning presentations began at 6 a.m. for me. The other early program begins at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Ginny, I get weekly emails from one of the garden stores in town, and I read about Salvia being a hummingbird magnet. I had not yet replanted the pots in my entryway, so I bought Salvia. And...the hummingbirds do like it. I've been out watering a few times and it's not unusual to see a hummingbird at one of the plants. The other thing about Salvia is that the deer are not fond of it. Although we have deer through here on a regular basis and they eat the apples in the trees in our front yard, we had not had any trouble with them eating the nearby flowers until last summer. Then periodically they would eat the flowers (usually not the leaves) from some of flowers in the pots. So this year I deliberately bought deer resistant plants. We'll see...
I picked up four of my wall hangings at the quilter's a few weeks ago and I decided to put the bindings on and work on them during the conference. So far I got one ready and started working on it, and I just finished getting the second one ready to work on when I complete the first one. The second one is the largest, so I don't know if I'll get them all done. My quilter lives about 45 minutes away so I am trying to drop off a quilt or wall hanging when I go pick one up. That should keep me working on finishing quilts for a while.
Our quilt guild Secret Sister group met on Thursday and I was surprised when I received a laptop quilt from one of my quilting friends. Apparently, I gave her 32 Sunbonnet Sue embroidered blocks in four different color ways--purple, blue, red and yellow. It is not the old-fashioned SS, but a more stylized version. My friend thought maybe from the 1940s. It is a delightful quilt, but here is the thing. I have NO MEMORY of giving her those blocks. She gave me the SS quilt in the purple colorway since she knows I like purple. I would love to ask her when I gave her the blocks and if she remembers what I said about them, but I'm too embarrassed because I can't remember giving them to her. At some point I'll take photos of everything and send them to Teresa so you can see all the quilts. Except for the Hawaiian applique quilt, all the wall hangings have been Round Robins which means that I did the middle block and three other people added a border of some kind of embellishment. So the Round Robins are really unique. I am always amazed at how creative the three other quilters are. I have two more Round Robin quilts that need to be quilted, but they need a little more work before I can hand them off to the quilter.
Guess I'd better catch up with some of my other stuff. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Here is it a beautiful day.
Take care, Judy

Looks like we are going to start having some super hot weather tomorrow and through the weekend. The temps for where Teresa lives are even more ridiculous. What I hear people saying...and writing...is..."and it's still June!" Personally I am going to celebrate the high temps by staying inside with our air conditioning. This morning I had early presentations for the conference so I didn't go to exercise, but Jim did. Fitness Over Fifty is located on Highway 20/30 a main road to the Coast. Jim got back about 8:30 a.m. and said, the traffic to the Coast was unbelievable...bumper to bumper as it heads through the small town of Philomath and then gets on the highway through the Coast Range on the way to the Coast. The Coast is always much cooler than the valley where we live. I saw on Facebook that one of the small towns on the Coast is warning residents to be ready for lots of folks this weekend.
My plan to work on my quilts while I watch the Zoom presentations is working well. I have finished putting the binding on three quilts and I'm working on quilt four. After that I still have labels to do so maybe...just maybe...I may be able to actually completely finish four quilts.
There is a quilt guild meeting tonight, and I hope this time I actually get to stay for the meeting. I got dumped off so many times last month I gave up, but I have discovered if people turn off their videos when the screen is shared for a presentation, even if I get bumped off, I can usually get back on quickly and see the program. I'm going to suggest that to someone on the guild board and hope it works.
Besides the conference not much else is going on in my life. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care, Judy

Judy, I look forward to seeing the quilts. What color Salvia did you buy? I already had red salvia but I'd never see anything on it. Karen did find a really pretty purply blue, and they are potted up with dark purple petunias. They are beautiful together, but I haven't seen any action yet. Of course, I've been stressed out with all the electronic replacement going on here, so I've not been doing much sitting and watching the goings on on the deck. During the last storm with tornado warnings and newscasts telling us to go to our "safe place" I had to choose between between staying in my bedroom with the TV giving out information or going to hide in the bathroom with no info since I just have a flip phone. I chose to stay in my bedroom with information (and a big ol' oak tree outside the window). So I called to switch from ATT with satallite reception (which gives really spotty reception in any storm) to Spectrum, which is cable. It came with a smart phone that I can use in the bathroom during storms. If we can ever get every thing installed I believe it will be great. But so far there is that big IF. I'm waiting for the phone to be delivered, which I need to be here to sign for, and also anxious about missing an appointment this afternoon. I'll be back later to tell you more. Hugs, Ginny
