Thanks, Teresa, I had a wonderful day. I love the ocean so our trip to the coast was lots of fun.
Two great birthday presents were that my daughter, Bryn did a spreadsheet for me of all the stories I have sent to my grandchildren. It will be so much easier to keep track from now on. The other unexpected present was a call from the young woman we sponsored in the children's program of our Sister City. She is married now and living in Hungary. She has been studying English so we were able to talk because I certainly don't speak Ukrainian.
I also heard from family and friends, and that was special too. I feel very lucky.
Hope everyone is doing well. Take care, Judy

Well I started a post and it disappeared, so who knows where it is. Fortunately it wasn't very long. Not very much of interest to write either, though. In case it is completly gone I will wish Judy a belated birthday wish one more time. Judy, I hope the young woman your church sponsored continues to do well. I think frequently about how lucky I am my grandmother was brave enough to immigrate from Austria-Hungary to the U.S. when my father was 5. Lord knows what my life could be like--or actually would I even be here if my mother and father hadn't gotten together. Do you ever think of stuff like that? Karen has been here working in the yard. She says we lost a big tree down in the woods, it fell over at the base, which is surprising, although I think we lost the top about a year ago, so maybe not so surprising after all. I think I have pretty much recovered from my fall, but I still feel sort of weak. Boo is meowing at me to ride the bike with him, so if I do that perhaps I'll feel stronger--and maybe to go out and sit on my new deck will also make me feel better. Love and good wishes to all of you. Ginny

Thanks for the wishes, Ginny. I glad to hear you are doing better. Our rain has stopped for a while and the sun is shining, but it's cold so I won't be sitting outside.
I weighed in for the month at WW and weighed exactly two pounds above my goal, so this month I don't have to pay. Hurray! I must admit that the day I weigh in is the day I let myself celebrate with food. I usually end up feeling overfull, but it also satisfies my longings.
Our daffodils are beginning to bloom, the hummingbirds seem to have returned in force. The Annas, of course, are always here, but there seem to be more birds at the feeders so I think the Rufous are here now, too. I'm also noticing more red-winged blackbirds, and I saw a woodpecker today, too. I need to get more suet. I think I'll run into the garden store and stock up.
Time to close and either take a nap or start on a project...name first I think.
Take care, Judy

I don't know where this week has gone. I can't believe it's already Thursday evening.
My really good news was that I managed to get back into the magic zone for goal so I don't have to pay this month--yeah! I need to keep working because I was at the top of the 2lb. forgiveness zone.
I'm sure we've all been watching at least a little bit the horrific news from Ukraine. You probably remember that our town's Sister City is Uzhhorod. Fortunately, it hasn't been attacked, I think because it is on Ukraine's western border that borders Hungary and Slovakia it hasn't been a target. However, over 70,000 refugees have streamed into the city--mostly women and children. People in Corvallis have been raising funds to help with food and other supplies needed. A Ukrainian who now lives in the U.S., and has an U.S. passport hand carried three suitcases of medical supplies to Uzhhorod. Jim and I sponsor a child in the TOUCH program and so does Altrusa, the service organization I belong to. They are both part of the New Family program which is similar to our Boys and Girls Club. Our TOUCH Director in the Uzhhorod has been checking on the programs TOUCH is part of and so far all is well. While programs such as New Family is not open, their director has checked with all the children to make sure they are okay and don't need anything. Public School #14, where the school population is 98% Roma children, is not holding classes because their building is being used as shelter. Currently there are 200 mostly women and children staying there. It is tragic to see the devastation that has occurred in Ukraine since Russia's unprovoked attack, and the terrible situation so many people are in.
I'm still not sure if my Write Your Life Story class spring term will be in-person or virtual, but it looks as if it will be in-person. I am surprised at how nervous I am about that. Although the unmasking in Oregon begins March 12th, I pretty sure I'm going to be one of the folks still wearing a mask in many situations. One those, I think will be my class if it is in-person.
Time to close for now. I hope everyone is doing okay. Take care, Judy

Judy it his horrific and scary.
I should be one of the people who will continue to wear a mask but doggonnit I am so sick of these masks. The only good thing about them is when I wear them it hides the horrible mark on my nose from my bipap machine.
I get back on track and do good and then I have an off day that turns into two. I am not going hog wild but I am definitely being lazy in my eating choices .I need to kick myself in the rear end and get to getting it done.
I am so anxious for warmer weather. My neighbors place sold, I hope the new people are nice and dont have kids and are not crazy. I feel bad for my neighbor, he is older and he was renting the place and he cant find a new place to rent that he can afford. He told me the other day he was going to buy a tent to put on BLM land in preparation in case he doesnt get a place. All I could think of was by the Grace of God go I. I have been looking online but there is nothing that he can afford that will allow his cats and dog.

Well, I missed wishing you Happy St. Urho's Day, that was yesterday, but belated Happy St. Urho's Day and Happy St. Patrick's Day! today!
The final decision about my spring term class is in-person. According to my supervisor, "What is so amazing about the in-person class we have scheduled is that you have attracted a whole new audience that has been waiting to take your class. Isn't that amazing?!?!" It also leaves out several students who just aren't quite ready to join "larger crowds."
Yes, indeed I do have seven new students, the most I've ever had a one time. But I'm not so "amazed" as I am worried that we are going to in-person too soon. I will be wearing my N95 mask, and I'm sure other's will be wearing their masks, too.
The class size is no more that 16, and a big room has been requested. I do not want to sit shoulder to shoulder as we did before the pandemic. I'm hoping we will be able to spread out.
I have been adding photos into my cloud account by downloading CDs. It has definitely been a walk down Memory Lane. Many of the photos have been 2007, and how my grandchildren have changed!!!!
I think I told you that my only granddaughter, Bridget is getting married in August. My daughter Kylee is coming for the wedding, but then I am going to visit her in October. I will have to get a substitute for one of my classes, but that's okay. I will be able to go for almost two weeks. We hope to go to Santa Fe, NM while I am there. Santa Fe has literally been on my bucket list since 1970.
Where is everyone? Hope you all are doing well. Take care, Judy
