Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone had a great Weekend!
My youngest was in town for the weekend. We went out for dinner . Sunday went for lunch at a place called Salt and Seed. Had my first Smoothie! Went to a sport consignment store and bought a Waterproof/windproof jacket and a tuque which says Canada. They look good together and if I go prepared I won't need it. Looking in my cupboards for a pair of gloves.
The smoke is terrible from the northern part of the province. It's got as far as Waterton National Park. It's only May and the forest fires are in full force!
I am trying to fill out my forms for getting my teeth done. I have the first surgery on Sunday.

Well, this post finds me at Zion National Park. Spent this afternoon, walking and looking...lots to see...the scenery is just incredible.
Before I left I finished a project for the 65th High School Reunion of the Class of '58. I had not volunteered for what I ended up doing and it took a lot of time. I tried to be positive , but was so relieved when it was done.
In my game of what did I forget this time, the winner is lipstick...and, guess what? so far I haven't been able to find a place to buy any. Of course, there is no trouble finding gift shops.
Time to close, I'll write when I get back. We get back on Saturday.
Take care, Judy

Had my surgery on Sunday 21. I lost count on the number of needles with freezing in them at 7. It's done and now comes the healing process. I am on antibodics and 2 different painkillers. One is every 6 hours and the other is 3 hours. The 3 hour one is 6 hours too. that way I'm not getting any extra pain, it's suppose to keep the pain under control. I go back on June 4 to get the stitches out. My mouth is sore and I'm eating yogurt, ice cream, mashed potatoes, I tried the noodle soup last night but it didn't go down too good. Nothing hot or spicy. Haven't had any coffee and really not missing it, yet. Will try scrambled eggs. I have 7 days off work, I go back on the 29. He was holding my jaw and it hurts there but other then that it's the bone graph that's giving me pain. The smoke is terrible! sometimes one can taste it. Other times it's just smokey. The temperature has dropped from 29C to 20C. Last night it rained and there was thunder. Didn't look out to see if there was any lightning. Hope not we, have enough fires. Last Friday there was a grass fire in my neighborhood, which they believe was caused by a cigarette butt. No houses were damaged.
Have been napping on the couch, then going to bed an sleeping. Have a wonderful week! Hugs Kathy

It's a week from the surgery. My mouth or I should say the gums where they did the surgery is sore. I had the partial relined on Friday and it helped a little. I am taking the antibiotics every 6 hours and I have a few pain killers left. I haven't taken them but I guess tomorrow when I go to work I will be taking one. I don't talk much as the jaw is sore in front.
The good part is I've lost about 5 pounds, not really hungry or thirsty but one has to keep the fluids coming.
It's kind of hot out but I still have to make sure I have a sweater or jacket as the A/C is turned up too high. I went to the theatre and I was freezing by the time it was over.
Hope everyone is healthy and wise!
Hugs Kathy

The trip to the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce was wonderful. I'm so glad I got to see them. We traveled to Las Vegas the last day so we could catch our plane the next day to go back to Oregon. We stayed at Harrah's, and I wouldn't recommend it. I saw enough of Las Vegas in the short time we were there to decide I never really needed to visit there again. I'm sure the shows are wonderful, but there was no time for that and I'm not sure a show would be worth the noise and people. I will say, I saw more bare bums that I've ever seen in public. Apparently there was a Rave that weekend. The theme was Carnivale. Many of the costumes (or lack there of) included thongs. It was quite a "show".
We did go to the Bellagio to see the fountain show on their lake. It was okay, but I expected more since I did see it on TV. We went inside the Bellagio and there was a magnificent ceiling by Chihuly, the glass artist, of umbrellas, and a Conservatory that was absolutely beautiful. Check out the link if you want to see a truly beautiful scene bellagio.mgmresorts.com/en/entertainment/conservatory-botanical-garden.html. It definitely was worth my very sore legs and feet from all the walking that day.
I tried to find a good photo of the Chihuly ceiling installation, but the ones I found were a blur of color...and not what I saw.
Since I got home I made the pillowcases for my Assoc. of Gravestone Studies conference silent auction. This year they are made with material I had printed with a cemetery photo. One of my friend asked, who would want to put their head on a cemetery. Who know? I guess I'll see. I'll send a photo to Teresa and she can maybe post it.
I also finished my part of the Round Robin quilt I got in the last go around. I will miss this get together because I'll be visiting my sister in Canon City, CO before I go to the conference in Denver.
It just seems that I can't catch up with everything I am supposed to do or have done since my stay in Arizona and then my trip to see the Canyons. I just keep plugging away.
Kathy, I hope you are continuing to feel better and the first day back at work wasn't too difficult.
Well, time to close. I will try to check in more often.
Take care, Judy

I sure do miss regular posts on our thread. Losing Ginny has had a huge impact on the thread, and it doesn't appear that she will return. I really miss her. I used to check this thread several times a week, and now sometimes I forget to check the thread for several days. It still seems to me to be a good way to check in whenever we can.
This has been a busy month for me so far. I had two field trips for the annual 8th grade science field trip up to the top of Marys Peak. One day it was freezing and this last week the weather was gorgeous. My classes are over for the term, the last one was Friday. It seems like I have all my yearly doctor appointments this coming week. And, on the 16th, I'm going to Colorado to visit my sister and then to my conference in Denver. I'm looking forward to a slower July and August. Teresa, I still hope I can come to Redmond this summer. I haven't had a chance to talk to my daughter because she has been super busy. My youngest grandson, the last of my littles who is little no more, graduated yesterday. Bryn hosted a great grad party on Thursday for Toby and his girlfriend, Lucy, the day before graduation...lots and lots of people. And so it goes...
Kathy, I hope you are in full recovery mode. I saw the FB post of your first "meal."
Take care, Judy

I'm home! After spending a week in the hospital and a week at Vicky's and a few days at Stan's I am home. When I looked in my fridge I found the leftovers from Vicky's house. so I have lots of food to eat. I also went to Safeway and bought some pasta salads that were made. I'm not really hungry but one has to eat. I loved that he made me eat! Cooked me stuff that I could eat and one I couldn't eat all that was put on my plate, Anne, his dog got to eat it. She sure was attentive. I had a egg salad bagel and she got the other half. she gobbled it up, from a dog that disliked eggs. When I was hooked up to all the tubes they took my weight and said I was 165. I haven't been that high this year. When I got home on Friday it was 149. Haven't been that low for awhile either. Had to buy some new pants as all mind have waist bands and they are not kind to my stomach. Vicky came with some jogging pants and I wore them until it was too hot to wear them. I am back in flannel pants and a long sleeve turtle neck with socks on my feet. I turned the heat on last night I couldn't get warm. It was only 11 C a far cry from mid 20's C. My computer is saying it's 41 F,
I was up in the far NE of Calgary. visiting my dental surgeon and him being satisfied with the healing. Screws are slated for October. Definitely will have all doctors okaying my drugs from now on!. I had my baby gifts for my youngest niece's son's daughter. I drove to her house and was writing on the tags and going to put them out when they drove up. I had a nice visit with her and learned a lot of what happen when my sister died. I can't believe how cruel my sister's husband was and how he handled the affair. He was so cruel. My Mom thought the world of him and believed he couldn't do any wrong. Over the years, he has knocked himself off numerous times and to me he's just my sister's husband that believes he knows a lot. He is knowledgeable but they do their thing and sometimes it's not to my liking. Which is okay, it's their life. I do ask my sister for advise on some things but I don't need the backlash. I took a sweater and hat and afghan that she had made along with a baby gift from me. I don't know if Cyrus will acknowledge the baby gift from them but that's not my problem. The gifts were delivered and I got a thank you for my gift which is all I wanted. On my picture of her, it just said her first name. When I asked I was told her middle name is Louise. I said her name is beautiful and she also has bother her mother's and father's last name. I said I thought it was beautiful! I asked how were they doing and she said that they were adjusting to being a family of 3 and having a new baby. I said I was happy for them. I flew to Victoria for the memorial get together for my cousin. They visited with my son and his girlfriend and were quite friendly towards them. They go to Victoria quite often but never make an effort to visit or call. When my cousin and his wife were going to California, last fall they checked with their insurance agent for travel medical insurance and the agent said that they were covered. My cousin got sick while in California and had to be evacuated to Vancouver Canada. He died there after being taken off life support. The insurance company said their insurance had been denied and that they were on the hook for Around $450,000. I was sorted out I guess. Any way she had to pay $10,000 so they set up something like a go to Fund. They raised the $10,000. I believe I have the 3 page for my Disability Insurance. I am going to submit today. Then I can find out about what's happening with the surgery one. I don't believe I will be back til Mid July.
I feel good but where my Staples were is still sore. I have scares that are intense and it's good thing my Bikini days are over. I am trying to walk everyday but am settling on at least every 2nd or 3rd. This is over 3,000 steps.
I bought myself a watch for my Birthday and have to figure out how to connect it to my phone and tablet. While in the hospital I had no idea what day it was or the time. That was on the wall but behind a curtain.
Now to figure out how to print from my tablet and get my shaw email on the tablet so I can use it more and get off my phone. While at Stan's I got his printer to work. Going into the printer mode I found it had been on pause. He thought I was a genius. so I had better get to my stuff and figure it out. I don't really know anyone that can help as both sons are in BC. Had better get on with my plans.
Teresa Could you email me Your address along with Ginny's address. while in Alaska I thought I'd send some snails mail!
Hugs Katy

I am in Denver waiting to be picked up to go to Denver University to register for the conference. I had a wonderful weekend with my sister, Erin, and my brother in law, Michael. We went to the Royal Gorge, but only went half way across the bridge before we turned around to try to beat an incoming rain storm. We almost made it and only got a little wet. What an amazing place. I remember going there when Troy was a baby probably in 1968 or early 1970. Since then there was a fire that destroyed the original bridge, but the new one is pretty spectacular.
Yesterday we went to the Denver Botanic Garden, so beautiful. We also saw an exhibit of Ansel Adams early photographs (1920s), I have always enjoyed his photographs. We had lunch at the garden and then Erin and Michael dropped me off at the motel.
So now it's on to the conference. I'm looking forward to seeing my "cemetery friends."
Kathy, it sure sounds as if you have had quite a time. I'm so glad you are healing well.
Teresa, I hope summer returns to Redmond. What a strange weather year this has been. I read somewhere that this is supposed to be a "normal weather" year in Oregon--no hot temps and dry--guess we'll see. I saw they has snow on Mt. Hood last week. In Colorado, Pikes Peak got 10 inches on June 15th. Go figure!
Take care, Judy

What is normal? The temperatures here have been in the single digit. so cold that Sunshine Mountain has had snow, Jasper has had snow! I turned the furnace on and when it did get any warmer, Jacked the heat up to the mid 20's. Yesterday I put on my flannel lined pants that I wear to work, my turtleneck sweater, heavy socks. Went out and bought my 3rd container of Pepto-Bismol. I came home and took off my waterproof jacket and put a puffer jacket on. The curled up under a afghan and fell asleep. Of course, I slept too long and when I went to bed I couldn't sleep. I have looked everywhere for a piece of paper that says why I had emergency surgery Or something that says what caused it. My pharmacy is saying they are treating me for a form of pylori. Scary! I made an appointment with my Dr to see if there is something that I can get for the insurance company so I don't need to fill out another claim. I did finally get paid for my days off for the dental surgery but I do need to get paid while I am off. Have no idea when I will be going back to work. Mid to late July is my guess.
I was sitting in the chair reading a book when I heard a sound of something scurrying. Looked over to where the noise was coming from and it looked like a mouse! Scary. Haven't seen it nor do I know where it went. I've been told to buy Warferin and mothball type repellent. So I have to get dressed, Would never go out in fleece pj bottoms and buy the stuff.
Nothing else seems to be happening here. It's cold and the sun isn't shinning brightly. crappy weather! I want to sit in the sun, drink virgin drinks and get some Vitamin D!
Other then the new tenant or roommate that wasn't requested there is nothing happening here yet!
Hugs Kathy

I got back late Sunday afternoon from Denver. As usual I enjoyed the conference, and it was so much fun to see my "cemetery friends" and hear about what they are doing. I especially enjoyed the papers that were presented. When we checked in on Monday we discovered that all the beds were set up high (so students can store stuff under the bed) my mattress was chest high. It would have had to pole vault into bed. The chair of the conference pointed out to the university staff that most of us weren't college students, so they lowered the beds. Our conference is always held at college or university to keep the lodging costs reasonable, so we are never sure what we will find.
Yesterday was kind of a lost day as I tried to catch up on my sleep and get everything unpacked and washed. I was supposed to go to a get together with friends, but I am still not feeling up to par, so I opted out. One of the women in the group is in the midst of cancer therapy and I would hate to pass on a bug to her or anyone else. I'm disappointed because we haven't been able to get together for several months.
Kathy, I hope you continue to feel better and better.
Teresa, how are you doing?
Time to close, take care, Judy

The day was hot my car said 25C. That's warmer then it has been in days!
Stan isn't going on the Cruise. He is in so much pain that when he moves before drugs he screams. When he moves it's an effort. He had a shot in his back at the beginning of June and felt like a new man! He went back for the 2nd shot and it was a man and it didn't feel right. When he questioned it the guy wasn't too helpful and I won't write his comments down. His doctor upped his pain medicine but it isn't helping. So I'm back to cruising with just the 5 of us. Have clothes in the washer and dryer. Need to reload and get the rest washed so I can pack. I bought new hiking boots and wore them around the house yesterday. I will wear them on the plane and when ever I'm walking a distance. No use in getting a sore ankle. I can't remember which excursions I booked. I thing one was a crab feast. It will be a surprise. I booked 3. I am looking forward to the trip if only I get myself organized. I have my surgeon's and my family doctor's okay to go on the cruise. My insurance is suppose to cover everything as I had bought it in November 2022 so my surgery isn't listed.
I bought 6 Crave cupcakes to celebrate with. I had a hard time eating mine. The icing was so sweet. I enjoyed it but it filled me up. I went to Starbuck's and got my free drink. I had some kind of Mango Lemonade with passion fruit. I shared it with my cousins and drank a toast. I said it was the closes to red wine that I could drink. I tried to buy the most expensive as it was free. I also got a cinnamon bun with icing from Cobs.
Now to figure out the pills. I have one type that will last me til Monday and the other one til the weekend. It's so hard to take these pills and having them sit on the table doesn't really help. But I will get them all down. I took all my expired drugs to the Pharmacy the other day. I had prescription drugs, over the counter, vitamins and drops. Took them all in! Only current stuff left. I got a letter from my Doctor on Friday and I can't find it anywhere. I have looked high and low.
I went to a garage sale and thought they might have some of the white patio furniture that I had. When I got there they weren't the right size or color. I did go thru the stuff and ended up buying a 7 ft pre-lite Christmas tree. I paid $40. Hoping it works. These trees are over $200.
Any suggestions on what I should pack? It's suppose to be in the mid teens so am packing a variety of clothes.
Of course I napped too long and it's the middle of the night and I'm wide awake!
Hugs Kathy

Pre cruise My head is bounding and I would like to go to bed and pull the covers over my head. My suitcase isn't completely packed and My carry isn't even started. I need 12 more hours
A windstorm blew in here in the early evening. The temperature has dropped about 20 degrees. It was in the mid 30's and hot. Now it's 14C quite a change
:My plane leaves at 10 and my ride is picking me up at 7:30. I got a phone call from the lost and found at the airport and they have my housekey.
Had better get back to the packing or I will end up wearing hiking boots with my sundresses.

My Write Your Life Story class had their first Get-together on Friday. We had so much fun! The weather was perfect and I'm looking forward to our next meeting. We are meeting every two weeks in July and August.
My daughter had a surprise birthday party this past Wednesday. It turned out to be not too much of a surprise, but everyone seemed to have a good time.
No plans for tomorrow's Fourth of July. I like fireworks, but I don't care much for firecrackers. This morning when I went to exercise someone said, "You're reward for coming to exercise so early is that tomorrow you get a reward, no exercise tomorrow." (The fitness club is closed for the holiday.)
This morning the moon was incredible! And the full moon was setting and almost seemed to be sitting on the ground. If I'd had a good camera, I would have tried to take a photo. (I've tried before with not great results.)
Kathy, I'm so sorry that Stan couldn't make the trip. I hope you have a wonderful time in spite of everything.
Time to close, take care, Judy

It's the 16th. I've been home 2 days. I flew home from Victoria on Thursday. Priority class. Was picked up by a limo in Victoria and when I arrived in Calgary was met by another limo driver, with a plaque card, who took me to my house. I went to my Dr's on Friday and she ordered a whole bunch of tests and gave me a prescription for Blood thinners. I took the prescription & while waiting for it to be filled I bought some groceries. Saturday I cooked the chicken thins and the breast. Will break it into smaller potions and freeze it. Will cook the cauliflower and do the same. I bought some soups and fruits. Am drinking more water and need to get out an go for a walk. My blood pressure is low and I am taking it and recording it.
I bought a Canon Printer and i tried to put it on my laptop but it's not working. will try and load it on my tablet and hopefully it works. I need to print a form from Celebrity so I can get my medical expenses clarified and send them to the insurance company. it's $7009.57 CDN. Not a small amount. The rest of the bills have been paid by the insurance company. They told us that we could submit our ferry rides for consideration.
other then trying to stay healthy and eat. Nothings new!
Hugs Kathy
