I am attempting a low point white chicken chili in the crock pot. I am not holding out high hopes.
Took Chibs to the dog field this morning. He played hard for over an hour with the other dogs. When I said it was time to go he ran to the car but when I opened the door he would run back to the field. This happened a few times, the last time I opened the door and he ran back to the field, I just got in my car, shut the door and started up my car. That dog freaked out, came hauling butt across the field and leaped right on top of the hood of my car.

Teresa, Chibs cracks me up. Your life is definitely not boring since Chibs joined the family.
And, what fun that your family came to celebrate your birthday. Your FB posts were so nice to see. You look terrific!
My friend and I head for Camano Island tomorrow. We are looking forward to exploring a place we have never been. Historically the island is not very old. It's only been settled for the last 100 years. We have a lovely place to stay that overlooks the bay. Our description of the place tells us to look for eagles and whales.
I picked up my quilts on Friday and got a lap quilt and wall hanging ready to bind. We, no doubt, will have time in evenings and maybe other times to sit and do handwork.
Time to gather my stuff...take care, Judy

Kathys post
18 hours ago QuoteEditlikePost OptionsPost by kathy on 18 hours ago I have been doing Retail Therapy! I bought a dress for the Mexico Wedding in February. Sketchers to wear while on my BC holidays. Am getting my floors done in my bedroom, walk in closet and ensuite I am also doing the ceramic tile around the tub. He's going to patch the drywall where the toilet paper holder goes. It's too low and it bugs me. I brought 4 samples to try in the bathroom. My walls are "Big Bird Yellow". I can't really tell which tile looks best as the yellow over powers everything. I tried taking pictures but there is too much yellow tones. I put them in the half bath which has grey walls and the sink is almond. Makes it kind of easier but still hard. Had no idea that yellow would be so dominate. The tub is almond. Costs too much to replace it.
I was looking at toilet paper stands and didn't see one that I actually liked. Am thinking of buying a new rod that has a bend in it. Mine is rusted and has been there since 1988. I really like the shower curtain rings I bought when I moved in but you guessed it they are rusted. so I think I have to buy new ones. I looked but didn't see anything I like at the store I was in.
Am also doing the floor in the laundry room. The stick on tiles are coming up and they've seen better days. He showed me a sample and I liked it so that's what's going in. He is also going to get me a price on the laundry closet. That has been on the list for awhile and it needs to be done. He's also going to put 2 outlets that have the UBS in them. One of them they missed on the island and the other is going to go in the entrance way/living room wall.
I figure I might as well get it done then it's done til I get more money.
I am feeling pretty good. I get tired and I seem to crash on the couch and so much for sleeping in the bed. I guess I need to set an alarm to go to bed.
Judy Glacier National Park by the US/Canadian border is huge. I've been there a few times and each time I gone it's been really windy and cool. I would like to go again and spend some time looking around. There is a cruise I believe on the lake. (could be wrong it's been awhile).
Got the $$$$ for my car but I don't know if the girl has picked it up yet. I left it at the Dealers' because I didn't have a ride to get the new one. My new car drives so smooth. There are so many options on it. Haven't figured out too many yet. It has a weird smell so that needs to be addressed as the smell gives me a headache.
Have to vote in the Federal Election before I leave. If one doesn't vote one doesn't have a right to complain about the government.
It's cool and was quite foggy this morning.
Hope everyone had/has a great Sunday!
Hugs Kathy

Am almost there! have voted, washed clothes, cleaned house, Wiped the inside of my new car with vinegar and water and it smells so much better, registered my vehicle, learned about the buttons so hopefully if my phone rings I can answer. Haven't tried it but I believe I can even sent a Text. Have put the location of the hotel in Victoria and the Ferry. Now I just have to book a room for tomorrow in Kamloops. Then I can charge my phone and go to bed. I've stripped my bed and put the sheets and blankets on the couch. Haven't got a definite tile picked out. It's so hard with the yellow walls taking over.
Just have to finish the load of laundry and fold some clothes and then it's bed time. I just looked at the clock and I didn't realize it was so late.
Hugs Kathy

Our visit to Camano Island was lovely. The air b n' b where we stayed was very nice, and there was a deck that had a view towards the water. My friend, Terri, loves to cook and there was a great kitchen so she had lots of fun concocting our meals. We ate in because Terri did not want to go into a restaurant. We talked about getting "to go", but had enough food that it didn't make sense. We explored the island one day, and went shopping in nearby Stanhope the next day. There are no towns on the Island, and this small community is located just before one drives onto the island. Camano Island is a place to relax and just enjoy being lazy. We had hoped to go zip lining, but unfortunately, there were no openings.
We are waiting for the rain. It is supposed to show up this evening. We do need the rain, but I hope the storm moves through quickly or lets up tomorrow evening because I'd love to go to Toby's game, but I'm not excited to sit in the rain.
Kathy, it sounds as if your trip is well planned. I hope you enjoy the trip in your new car and visiting your family. I am also in the learning stage for the new car we got to replace the van. I've figured out the big things, but still need to figure out some of the fine points.
Since I got back yesterday I've been playing catchup. It always seems as if there is lots to do when I return from being gone for a few day.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Take care, Judy

Teresa, we decided we'd try to find a zipline place closer to home. I imagine it won't happen until next summer since I think both Terri and I are done traveling for a while.
Last night I went to Toby's football game. CHS was playing their hometown rival CV. Toby had an awesome game. He made 232 yards on 33 carries and made four touchdowns. I'm so glad I'm getting to go to the games this year. Toby is a junior this year. He is our youngest grandchild.
Teresa, I'm back on track, and happily my scales are headed in the right direction again. It is so easy to gain, and MUCH more difficult to lose.
The rains returned late Friday evening, and it's been raining off and on since them. The rain held off during Toby's game last night, but shortly after I got home it started in earnest again. The rain storms come and go and when they go the sun comes out for a while. I am hoping the rain will help dampen the wildfires. My friend, Terri, has lived through two summers of smoke, and while they love their little farm, the smoke is a problem. It sounds as if they are seriously considering moving back to Hawaii.
The news is about to come on, so it's time for me to close and find some place where I don't have to listen to it.
Take care, Judy

I am struggling to get back on track and stay that way. I have not lost anything really in months and months. I have been maintaining but I fear that wont last if I dont get control of this.
the mountains got snow. I am not ready for it here yet but I hope it is helping with the fires.
This dog is being very clingy and weird today. WE went and played this morning and will go tonight but he is just right on top of me and has to be touching me. He is getting on my nerves but making me a little paranoid too. He acts like something is up.

It was an unusual day today. We live on a farm and do not have city services, so we have wells and septic tanks. Today was the day the septic tanks got cleaned. We have three. It only has to be done every five or six years, for us it was year six and time. Jim is no longer able to work with the person who does the tanks because it's too much walking so I was elected. When I told my friend it was going to happen she said, "Don't forget to tell him to clean the baffles?" My immediate thought was, "What the heck is a baffle?"
Cleaning the tanks is an interesting process. The tanks are buried, so they have to find the lid and dig out enough dirt around it so they can take of the top. Then they have a big truck with a huge tank on the back and hose to suck out all the "stuff" in the tank. You probably aren't interested in details, , once that's done the lid goes back on and the dirt covering the lid is put back. I discovered that what is called the baffles is actually the pipe into the tank from the house and the pipe out into the drain field. It turned out that two of our tank needs new baffles because the originals are cast iron and can get clogged and now they replace them with plastic pipe which works much better.
I watched Sean open all three tanks and he explained the process. I now know all I ever wanted to know about cleaning septic tanks. But it turns out he enjoys history so we had some great talks while he was working. Like I said, it was an usual, but also interesting day.
Tomorrow the quilt guild's challenge quilt committee is going fabric shopping to buy fabric so we can put next year's packets together for the 2022 Challenge. Quilters who participate buy a packet with the material and the guidelines for the Challenge, and then we have a year to finish our quilts. Our theme for 2022 is "Topsy Turvey". We have to make a quilt where we use both the front side of the fabric and the back side in our quilt. Tomorrow's shopping trip is to get that fabric. Each person will get a 1/2 yard to use in their quilt. It will be an interesting...and I hope fun exercise. I think I'll make a lap quilt, but I need to find a pattern I like.
My 2020-2021 Challenge Quilt is at the quilter's. We present our quilts at the October Guild Meeting. It is always one of the best meetings of the year. It is so much fun to see what people have created using that particular year's theme.
Life is definitely not dull around here. More another time...take care, Judy

Judy, I absolutely hate septic tanks. When we left Merrill, I said I dont want to know where anything goes when it is flushed as long as its not buried in my backyard and I hated worrying about the pumphouse freezing up. I liked living in the country but I need city services.
I ordered me another pair of shoes off of Amazon. they are the same as my last pair only in a different color. I am praying the fit the same. Sometimes Amazon is a hit or miss.
I have done good to get back on track and have stayed there until tonight when the bag of tater tots in the freezer jumped me and after that the box of graham crackers had their way with me. Tomorrow is a new day.

Teresa, I've been doing pretty well, but I blew it today with candy. I have had the worst sweet tooth the last few days, and I think my overindulgence with candy has solved that issue for awhile.
As you say, tomorrow is another day.
Take care, Judy

This solved my sweet tooth tonight. I made a compote out of the blueberries by cooking them down with a squeeze of fresh lime juice, a pinch of salt and 2 equal packets. The whole thing was one point. Filling and sweet. The perfect dessert.

Wow, Teresa! You are doing so well. Congratulations!
This has already been a busy week. I will have had two Zoom meetings and my class begins on Friday. Meanwhile, I have been trying to continue the organizing that my daughter helped me with while she was here. My couch is pretty much my office, and it is really not a very satisfactory place to organize all the stuff that seems to end up here. I got a lot done on Monday, but I have another stack to go.
Our family got some very upsetting news on Monday. My brother, Robin, has Covid and is in the hospital. He lives in Idaho and so he is lucky he got a bed. I am really mad at him because he chose not to get vaccinated. Of course, I am praying for his recovery no matter whether I am mad or not. I hope his wife, Carol, doesn't get it. She is really very fragile and I'm sure if he was not vaccinated neither is she. It's difficult to get information because while we are not estranged from Robin and Carol they don't communicate much with the rest of the family. I try to keep in touch, but sometimes I let it slide. I talked to Robin in August, but I had not heard from him since then. On Monday I got an email from Carol that he was seriously ill with Covid and in the hospital. It is really difficult to know what to say in an email to Carol, but I am trying. Today I told her that Erin and I hesitate to call because we know she is waiting for calls from the doctor and we don't want to tie up the line. I also asked how she is doing. I hope she will give me some clues about how to keep in touch.
My class begins on Friday. I find it difficult to believe that Friday is October 1st. Fortunately, I am able to go to LBCC's Benton Center and use their wifi connection. Last year the building was closed so I had to find another place. I need to do a handout for the class. My intentions, of course, were excellent. I was going to get all my handouts done before the class began. I didn't! I do have one done, but I think I need a different one for the first class.
I wasn't able to open Kathy's video, but whale watching is really wonderful and exciting.
Time to work on those handouts. Hope everyone is doing well, take care, Judy
